John W. Wilkes, Jan. 11, 1862, Roanoke, Va., - Feb. 23, 1946. Fanny W. Wilkes, Feb. 27, 1863, Bedford Co., Va. - May 31, 1936. John William Wilkes was a son of William Henry Wilks and Rebecca Anne Wilks. He was a grandson of Blade Wilkes and Anne Wilkes. He was my great granduncle. On June 6, 1882 in Franklin Co., Virginia, he married Elizabeth Frances Whitworth. She was a daughter of Thomas Whitworth and Elizabeth Nichols.
