January 27, 1911
Child Severely Burned.
Clara, the twelve-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Herring, residing one mile west of Fulton, was severely burned Monday morning while at play in the kitchen. The mother had gone out for a few minutes and the child picked up a pine stick and poked the fire. In playing with the burning piece of wood she ignited her clothing and when Mrs. Herring reached her she had been burned about the hands and face pretty severely.
The attending physician said she did not inhale any of the flames. Practically all the outer clothing of the child was burned. Thursday her condition was worse, although no serious consequences are anticipated at this time.
In 1920 she was living with her great grandmother and her grandmother. She must have survived the fire in 1911. I have found no other record of her.
