For the past three years years she had been teaching at the Sunrise school in the Sunrise neighborhood, as well as in Fulton. She was held in the highest esteem for her friendly disposition and her willingness always to be of service to her relatives and friends. She was given an increase in salary each succeding year at the Sunrise school without solicitation on her part showing the high regard in which she was held by the director of the district. Last summer Miss Willett attended the State Teachers College at Warrensburg.
Miss Willett was a member of the Christian church and took an active part in the work of the Sunday school and Christian Endeavor. • Young Teacher Died Sunday.
Miss Florrence Willett Passed Away Last Night After Week's Illness with Influenza.
Miss florence Willett, 22 years old, died Sunday night at 11:30 o'clock at the hone of Mrs. Ann Hall, about six miles northwest of Fulton. Miss Willett was teacher of the Sunrise school northwest of Fulton, and was boarding at the home of Mrs. Hall, where she was taken ill with influenza about a week ago. About 11:00 o'clock Sunday night she was taken with a hemorrhage, becoming unconscious from it's effects and dying in about half an hour. The body was brought to Fulton Monday afternoon, and after short funeral services at the home, conducted by the Rev. W.C. Alcorn, internment was in the new cemetery.
Miss Willett had been teacher of Sunrise school for three years, and was one of Callaway's most successful instructors, having received an increase in salary every year. She was re-elected each year without even making application for the place. She was a graduate of the Fulton high school, taking the teachers' training course here, and last summer attended the Warrensburg Normal School.
She had been a member of the Fulton Christian church for a number of years, and was a teacher in the Sunday school of that church.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Willett, of Tenth street, one sister, Miss Ollie, who is confined to her bed with illness, and a brother, Thomas, of this city, who, with his wife, was with Miss Florance at the time of her death.
The death of this successful young teacher will be received with sadness in the community in which she taught, and also by her Fulton and Callaway county friends. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved family who mourn their loss.
