Notes |
- 1900 census gives her birth as Sept. 1848, if the marriage date is correct, she would have been 9 years old... On the 1900 census, it says married, 50 years. That would mean she got married at age 2. Death certificate give 1840 as year of birth. There is also a 3 year old grandson, Roy Washington, living with this family in 1900. Daughter Mary was probably the mother of this child, altho I don't know where she was in 1900. The note for children on 1900 census says 7 children born, 5 alive. I know of 6 children, and can account for 2 of them dead before 1900. This does not account for Mary or the grandchild living with them.
1880 census gives more correct birth year.

Mrs. Susan Byers Abt 79 3 May 1920 Fulton Telegraph, Callaway Weekly Gazette
She lived at 5514 Wells Ave., St. Louis, Missouri, at the time of her death. She died at home. Mrs. J.P. Ross of Fulton, Missouri, gave the information for her death certificate. She did not know the names of Susan's parents other than the last name of Day. Mrs. Ross is probably her daughter Eliza Jane Ross. Susan was probably living with her son and his family Truman in St. Louis.
Death certificate says she was buried in Fulton without specifing where.
In January, 1920, she was living in Fulton, Missouri, with daughter Eliza Means and family.
