Lt. C.W. Carrington
To Be Reburied In Arlington Cemetery
One of Callaway County's war heroes, Lt. Carson W. Carrington, who was killed in Europe on September 23, 1944, will be re-buried in Arlington National Cemetery on May 19, according to word received here by parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.D. (Jack) Carrington.
Lt. Carrington's body had been buried in the United States Military Cemetery in Neuville, en-Condroz, Belgium.
The 24 year-old pilot of a Marauder bomber was one of a six-man crew shot down on a combat mission to Venlo, Holland. He was on this 65th mission. He had entered the Air Force in November, 1940, and had been overseas since February, 1944. He was a graduate of the Fulton High School, had attended the University of Missouri for a year, and had been in the National Guard.
Mr. and Mrs. Carrington and their daughter, Mrs. David W. Herring of Robinson, Ill., and their son, Rex Owen Carrington, are planing to go to Washington to attend the services.

The target for this mission (#147) was Marshalling Yards at Venlo, Holland. From the 344th BG history book:" ...we were to attack the Venlo marshalling yard but were unable to attack our objective. The mission was hotly contested by the enemy and three of the 36 planes dispatched were lost to enemy action, 18 of the personnel in these planes placed on a missing status and 16 planes damaged, causing minor repairs to be made."
