  Little is known about this family except that sarah Wilkes was the mother of these five children, whose father apparently died, leaving her unable to care for the children. They were bound out according to the law in Bedford County. Peyton Wilkes is said to have been born in Grayson County in 1791. This may be in error as Grayson was created from Wyth County in 1793.
