    • Jean Books, age 69, of Maryland Heights, Mo., passed away at her home on September 10, 2011. Formerly of the Williamsburg area, she was born in Fulton to Marvin and Clara (Craighead) Books on September 16, 1941. Jean was a graduate of Fulton High School in 1959. She graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College, now Truman State University, in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Jean then graduated in 1967 from the University of Missouri with a Masters degree in Education.
      Jean's teaching career included several years in Arizona on an Indian Reservation and a short period of time in California. The remainder of her career was spent teaching third grade in the Pattonville School District in St. Louis County. After Retirement, Jean spent 14 years as a transportation volunteer with St. Louis County's Older Resident Program. This volunteer work gave her a great sense of satisfaction by helping those in need.
      Her parents and a niece, Ashley E. Brooks, preceded her in death. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Beth Books, Williamsburg: sister and brother-in-law, Willene and Robert Overfelt, Auxvasse, one niece, Sandra Dempsey, Rolla; three nephews, Andrew Landfather and wife, Jing, of Denver, Co.: Jason Books and wife, Jennifer, Williamsburg, and Jonathan Books, Williamsburg; one aunt, Margaret Craighead, Fulton: as well as cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Auxvasse Cemetery Fund. A private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
