    • Frances Levene Saling, 90 of Mokane, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003 at the Riverview Nursing Home in Mokane.

      She was born Nov. 21, 1912 in the Cotton Rock community near Mokane, to the late Louis Sebastian and Elizabeth Pearl (Maddox) Derleth. She attended Cotton Rock school and graduated from Mokane High School in 1932. She was married to Cecil John Saling on Oct. 26, 1932 in Fulton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2001.

      Survivors include two sons, Wesley and Charles Saling, both of Tooele, Utah; two daughters, Dora Weems of Mokane, and Darlene Gubler of Salt Lake City, Utah; 24 grandchildren and 42 great-granchildren; a sister, Bonnie Maddox of Fulton; and a brother, Russell Derleth of Mokane.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leslie Derleth of Dover, Missouri.

      Mrs. Saling was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many church and community positions as president and various positions in the Women's Relief Society, a teacher in Sunday school and primary organizations, a board member of the Riverview Nursing Home, a member of Pohlenz Extension Club and served as president twice, an organizer of 4-H Club and as a leader for many years.
      She and her husband worked as dorm parents for the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton.

      Funeral services will be Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fulton. Burial will follow in the Mokane Cemetery.
