Notes	From the History of Callaway County Missouri 1884 book, which is not always accurate: John D. Cason, a large landholder and successful farmer of Cedar township, was born in this count on the 21st of May, 1842, and was a son of Benjamin and Anna E. (Overton) Cason. The father was originally from Scott county, Kentucky, and was married three times. He came out to Missouri a young man and was married the first time to Miss Mary J. Hawkins, of Howard county. She died, leaving him one son, William H., now deceased. His second wife was previously Miss Anna E. Overton, of Callaway county, but originally from Woodford county, Kentucky. She died, leaving him five children: Sarah E. (deceased), John D., Andrew J. (deceased), Mary E. (deceased) and Benjamin F. The father's last wife was Mrs. Fannie M. Hardin, daughter of Samuel Kennon, of Boone county. There were no children by this union. The father died leaving a large estate. He was a successful farmer and highly respected citizen. John D. was reared on the farm and educated in the neighboring schools. On the 19th of June, 1864, he was married to Miss Judith F. Hawkins, daughter of William J. Hawkins, of this county. They have four children; Mary E., Anna W., William D. and Frank V. Mr. Cason has been abundantly successful as a farmer. He owns no less than 1,000 acres of fine land and has an excellent farm. He and wife and daughter are members of the Christian church. He is educating his children in a family school taught by Miss Laura A. Clark, of Mexico, Missouri, and has with him seven young ladies, viz.; Misses Maggie and Ella Hord, Loula Fisher, May Harris, Stella Chalfants, Marie Reno and Gertie Glenn. 1870; Census Place: Cedar, Callaway, Missouri; Roll: M593_764; Page: 280; Image: 114.
