ERNEST MARVIN TATE
Ernest Marvin Tate, son of Newton W. and Sophia Tate, was born in Montgomery county November 19, 1879, and died in St. Louis April 20, 1945.
Early in life he professed faith in Christ and united with the Oak Grove Christian Church, southeast of Williamsburg. Later he transferred his membership to the Antioch church. A few years later he located in Jefferson City and had his membership transferred to a church there. He was careful to keep his membership near him.
He had many friends whom he appreciated and enjoyed. He possessed a pleasant and cheerful disposition, always glad to meet and associate with his friends. What a consolation it is that he leaves evidence that he possessed that hope "which is an anchor to the soul." "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
He was a member of the Masonic fraternity and Eastern Star.
He is survived by two brothers, Claude and J. Lloyd Tate; a nephew, Russell M. Tate, and a grand-niece, Marilyn Lee Tate.
His body was taken to the Williamsburg cemetery and after a brief service, conducted by the writer, was interred there in the presence of his many sorrowing friends and relatives. | Ernest Marvin Tate

Thomas as a brother and Frances as a sister, and Lydia and William as parents, is speculation based on ages, relationships in Albemarle Co., Virginia between the Tatum, Hill, and Herring families, and the eventual movement to the same area of Missouri in the same time frame. Another Old Citizen Dead.
John H. Tatum died in the Insane Hospital Friday afternoon, July 22, 1904, from a complication of diseases. On account of his advanced age nothing could be done to restore his health, and but little to prolong his life, and he passed peacefully away on the above date. Mr. Tatum was a native of Fulton, aged 71 years, and single. He was a quiet, peaceable citizen and had the friendship of all who knew him. He leaves three sisters and many friends who deeply regret his death. His remains were taken to Prairie Chapel church for interment. | John Henry Tatum
