9745 Death certificate shows that he lived in the state hospital, Missouri Colony, near Marshall Missouri. He had been a resident there for 9 years, since he was about 1 1/2 years old. Their records show that the only real information they had about this child was his father's name. They did not know his mother's name, his date of birth, or even exactly how old he was. They did not even list the name of the cemetery, only listed that burial was in Fulton, Missouri. He was listed as a congenital imbecil.

I find it so sad that families had to give their children over to such places in the past. The state hospital didn't even bother to keep a record of this child's birth date, or the name of his mother. I can only imagine what kind of care children like this received. The state hospital in Fulton was just as bad, they buried hundreds of patients in the hospital cemetery, in un-marked graves over the years. They also claim to have no patient records from about 1960 back. That's about 100 years of patients... the only way we know that they were there is that they were listed on the census and if they had a death certificate.

It is just so sad what our medical system did to adults and children who had mental or physical handicaps in past years.
