1954-Neva Jean Sherman Has Lovely Church Wedding Saturday
Miss Neva Jean Sherman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sherman became the bride of Bruce Lynn Kilgore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edison Kilgore of Chula, Ark., Saturday night, July 3 at 8 at a canddlelight ceremony at the Cumberland Presbyterian Shurch at Russellville with the Rev. A. D. Salisbury Jr., reading the double ring marriage vows.
The altar was marked with baskets of white gladioli placed before an arch of ivy, interspersed with floor standards burning white cathedral tapers.
Mrs. Salisbury was at the piano for the nuptial music and accompanied Don Crosby who sang "Because" before the ceremony and "The Lord's Prayer" closing the nuptials.
The bride, given in marriage by her father wore a gown of white Venice lace over taffeta the basque having tiny cap sleeves with which she wore lace mitts. Her finger length veil of illusion was caught from a crown of seed pearls and she carried a colonial bouquet of white orchids and stephanotis, with white satin cascade.
Mrs. David McAlister, the bride's sister, was her only attendant. She wore a gown similar to that of the bride in aqua taffeta and lace and carried a colonial bouquet of sweet-peas and pink carnations.
The flower girl, Kay Gaskin, wore pink organdy, and carried pink petals in a flower basket. Brecky Smith, wearing a white linen suit, carried the rings.
Mrs. Charles Turner and Miss Roena Sue Kilgore lighted the candles. They wore gowns of blue taffeta and tulle and carried lighted tapers tied to pink ribbons, and their wrist corsages were of pink carnations.
Charles Turner of Chula, served the groom as best man.
Ushers were Roy Alford and David McAlister.
Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in Cumberland Hall where the bridal party, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman and the groom's mother, Mrs. Edison Kilgore of Chula, received. The decorations were of sweetpeas, white gladioli and purple asters.
The refreshment table was exquisitely appointed. Its white linen centered with an attractive arrangement of the flowers, the punch bowl and the three tiered wedding cake. Mrs. Louis Klosterman ladeled the punch and Mrs. Glenn Weatherton served the cake.
The couple left for a honeymoon in Hot Springs and will be at home after August 1 at Russellville, where he is a senior student at Arkansas Polytechnic College.
Fot travel Mrs. Kilgore wore a cotton frock of dark print with white accessories and pinned her orchids from her bridal bouquet at her shoulder. She is a graduate registered nurse from the General Hospital School of Nursing at Kansas City, Mo.
Out of town guests were the mother of the groom, Mrs, Edison Kilgore, his sisters, Miss Roena Sue and Miss Nidra Ann Kilgore and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Turner all of Chula. | Neva Jean Sherman

In 1860, age 2, he was not living with his parents, but with a Jacob Crowson family. This doesn't make sense as his parents were both alive and living together with their other children at that time. They also had children after Charles was born. On his death certificate, father is listed as John M. Simco, mother listed as unknown.
I cannot find him anywhere in 1870, he would have been 12 years old. He was not living with his father.
In 1880, he his working on Willard F. Harris farm as a laborer.

Dr. Simcoe Gets Job
Dr. Charles B. Simcoe, formerly of Fulton, has been elected superintendent of the Marshall colony for feeble-minded. The position pays $2,000 a year and maintenance for himself and family. He was elected for a term of two years.
Dr. Simcoe succeeds Dr. W.L. Whittington, of St. Joseph, whose relations with employees of the institution were such that the board thought it advisable to dismiss him.
Dr. Simcoe was the first superintendant of the colony. He has held a number of state positions during the last twenty years, among them physician at the state penitentary and assistant physician in the St. Joseph and Nevada hospitals for insane. He was born and reared in this county and has many relatives here. His friends in the county are glad to learn of his election to the position.
