James B. Sanders Dead.
James B. Sanders, 84 years old, a highly respected citizen of south Callaway, died Wednesday at his home in New Bloomfield. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.
Mr. Sanders was born in Virginia, September 4, 1828, and came to Missouri when seven years old. The family settled on a farm near New Bloomfield. He was married twice, the first time to Miss Annie E. Farmer, who died September 11, 1856 (note: they married in Sept. 1856, she actually died Apr. 4, 1866). Three children (note: 4 children) were born of this union, two of whom survive the father, Mrs. Ezra James, of Centralia, and Mrs. Charles Wilcoxin, of New Bloomfield. He was married a second time to Mrs. Mary E. Lawson, in 1858 (note: they married July 5, 1871 and her name was Sarah not Mary, her maiden name was Holt) and too this union three children were born, all of whom are living as follows: E.W. Sanders, of Porum, Okla.; G.P. Sanders and Mrs. Asa Jordan, of New Bloomfield.
Mr. Sanders became a member of the New Bloomfield Masonic lodge on September 17, 1865, and his membership extended over a period of 48 years, making him one of the oldest members of the lodge. He also held a membership in the Rocky Branch Methodist church, near Wainwright, and was a devout Christian.
Burial occurred Thursday in the New Bloomfield cemetery under the auspices of the New Bloomfield lodge.
Mr. Sanders during his long residence in the south part of Callaway county was recognized as one of the substantial and worthy citizens of the community. He was a hard worker, honest and upright in his dealings, and a man who always held the confidence and esteem of his neighbors. | James Burrows Saunders Or Sanders
