From the History of Callaway County Missouri, 1884, page 794-795 (which is not always correct)
George G. Bartley, one of the substantial farmers of St. Aubert township. He was born in Kanawha county, Virginia, November 9, 1825, and came of good Revolutionary stock. George G., the oldest son, was but four years of age when the family removed to this State, but remembers many incidents that transpired at that early time. He spent his youth on the farm, and was married January 21, 1847, to Miss Harriet Fitzhugh, a native of Pike county, Missouri, and daughter of Mr. A. C. Fitzhugh. Four years after his marriage he removed to his present homestead. Mr. and Mrs. George G. Bartley have a family of four children, viz: Dennis, John F., Robert L. and Nannie. An interesting daughter, Permelia, died in 1875 at the age of twenty-two, and one died n infancy in 1848. Mr. Bartley's landed property consists of 160 acres, about 100 of which are under cultivation, comprising the homestead, with a comfortable dwelling, a good tobacco barn, and fine orchard containing a choice variety of fruits, and also an improved tract of 265 acres. Mr. and Mrs. Bartley and daughter are members of the Sulphur Springs Christian church. Mr. Bartley is an honored member of Fulton Lodge, A. F. and A. M., and has filled important stations in the Blue Lodge, and is a member of Orion R. A. Chapter No. 49. He has held the office of justice of the peace and constable, and served as door-keeper of the Missouri Legislature for three winters of 1858-59, and was again elected to that position in 1870 and served four years. | George G. Bartley

Marriage is a bit confusing, transcribed records show him marrying Martin, Catharine - May 24 1827. Daughter Sophia's death certificate shows her mother's name was Catherine Barton. In 1860, his wife's name was Nancy and she was too young to have married in 1827. However there is a gap between two youngest children that makes me think he married Nancy before Sophia was born. I have not found any other marriage records for Charles in Callaway county. I'm leaving all children connected to one wife, altho there were probably at least two wives. I think the Martin was a mis-transciption, and the name was Barton. To further confuse things, in 1850 his wife's name was Margarette.
From Love Bible, see info under Philip Love b:1778:
"Katharine Love wife of C Love Departed this Life August the 25 1839"
This might have been this Catherine Barton Love.
If so, then Samuel, Philip, Sarah, Martha, and John were her children, Thomas, Catharine, Andrew, Charles, Robert and George were Margarette Ann's children, and Sophia was Nancy's child. This does not explain why Sophia's mother on her death certificate was listed as Catherine, altho there were a couple of errors on her death certificate. | Catherine Barton
