Thomas L. Houchins Dead.
Thomas L. Houchins, who had been a long sufferer of that dreaded disease, consumption, breathed his last at the home of his parents in Calwood township, at 7 o'clock Thursday morning, December 8th, 1897.
Thomas L. Houchins was born December 7th, 1860 and was the son of E.L. and Mary L. Houchins, who survive him.
Besides the father and mother, he leaves four brothers and two sisters to mourn his death, as follows: W.H., C.E., E.S., and H.H., Anna Belle and Rosa Houchings.
Tom Houchins was a young man of many sterling qualities, highly respected, and was honest and upright in all his dealings with his fellow men.
About two years ago he went to New Mexico in hopes that he would get relief from his sufferings but no relief came and he returned home to pass his last days with his father, mother, sisters and brothers, where he could recieve their tender nursing and loving sympathy.
His funeral took place at Ebenezer Baptist church, Friday evening at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J.B. Rice, of Laddonia, Mo., the paster in charge, after which his body was laid to rest in the cemetery at that church. | Thomas L. Houchins
