He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was involved in the conflict at Pearl Harbor.
Survivors include a son, Merrill Edward and wife of Sonona, Calif., two brothers, Paul and Walter Herring of Fulton.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at Old Auxvasse -Nine Mile Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, the Rev. Terry Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in Williamsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
Mrs. Knipmeyer was born April 30, 1916, in Williamsburg to George and Mary Florence Pasley Herring.
She married Alf Knipmeyer on June 20, 1935, in Fulton, and he survives.
She had been employed as a teacher in Williamsburg and also worked for AT&T in Kansas City. She was a member of Old Auxvasse -Nine Mile Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Auxiliary, Williamsburg Community Club and Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Susie March of Columbia; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a daughter.

Mr. Herring was born October 20, 1888, in Callaway County, and was the son of Willis D. and Emma Giboney Herring.
He married Miss Eva Pearl Menefee Nov. 30, 1916, and both were members of the Central Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. E.A. Dick and Mrs. James Farmer, Fulton; and Mrs. Edward Detweilder, St. Joseph; two sons, Frank and Charles Herring, Fulton; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Maupin Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Graft will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Raymond McCallister. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. | Obie Herring

Tommy Herring, 51, Dies Late Friday
Unexpected Death of Fultonian Belieded Caused by Blood Clot
Otis Paul "Tommy" Herring, 51, well-known Fulton resident, died unexpectantly about midnight Friday at his home, 704 Grand street, where he had lived for the past fifteen years. He had been in good health and had worked all day Thursday. A blood clot was believed to have been the cause of death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Maupin Funeral Home. The Rev. A.F. Larson officated and burial was in the Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Born on May 15, 1899, near Dixie, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Herring. He had lived all of his life in Callaway County and had been employed by the Boulware H. Jameson, Inc. automobile agency for the past 18 years as a painter.
In addition to his wife and son, Russell Lee, he is survived by a brother, Nolin, of Fulton and a sister, Mrs. Frank Stephens, also of Fulton | Otis Paul "Tommy" Herring

Paul K. Herring, 79, Fulton, died June 17, 2000, at Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born May 25, 1921, a son of L. Roy and Rachel Mary Davenport Herring. He was married to Margaret O'Neal, who survives.
He served in the National Guard and the Navy until 1945. He then established Herring Foundation Forms and Excavation Co. and was a volunteer fireman for the city of Fulton from 1945 to 1987.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he was instrumental in rebuilding the present building.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Katie Stafford and Sue Ellen Herring, both of Springfield, and Wanda Patterson, North Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, Walter "Chic" Herring, Fulton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Carolyn Raye Portell, preceded him in death.

Pauline Ellen Smith, 85, New Bloomfield, died Oct. 12, 2002, at Presbyterian Manor, Fulton.
She was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Mexico, a daughter of Letus and Rose Mosley Herring. She was married in February 1939 in New Bloomfield, to Wilson Smith, who died April 4, 1994.
She worked as a secretary for the Callaway Bank in Fulton. She was a member of Dry Fork Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.
She was a member of WMU, the Guthrie Extension Club and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: one son, Steve Smith, Fayette; one daughter, Sandra Haymart, Fulton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dry Fork Baptist Church, New Bloomfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

This couple lived in Sedalia, Petis Mo. in 1925.
She died in the Bothwell hospital, Sedalia, Pettis Co., Missouri, after a stay of 20 days. Her usual address was 1842 S. Barrett, Sedalia, Missouri. On her death certificate is a statment by the doctor about her condidtion: This lady had been a semi-invalid for several months. About two years. She had very poor circulation in both legs due to varicose veins and to arterio sclerosis which was advanced. She had employed a walker for some months. On the day of injury she was alone and attempted to go out of the back porch of her home. In some manner unknown, she fell and sustained fractures of both the tibia and fibula of each leg. It was thought that these fractures were pathologic due to her circulation. The cause of death as stated was hypostatic pneumonia. Jno.B. Carlisle, M.D. Nov. 25, 1949
