From the book, A History of Callaway County Missouri, 1884; which is not always accurate:
Justinian Cave was married in this county November 19, 1855, to Miss Mary E. Gathwright, daughter of Matthew W. and Mary J. (Withers) Gathwright, who were early settlers and well-to-do residents of the county, originally from Culpepper county, Virginia. But one other of their family of seven children is now living, John F. Gathwright. The father died January 23, 1876; the mother, April 23, 1880. They left an estate of 600 acres of fine land. (date of father's death is wrong, he is on the 1880 census, alive, wife is not living on this census, perhaps they mixed up the death dates of the two?)
In 1880, he was living with daughter Mary Cave and family:

From the book:
Albemarle County in Virginia By Edgar Woods:
The different Gentry families in Albemarle seem to have sprung from the same head. Nicholas Gentry died in 1779, leaving eleven children: Moses, David, Nicholas, Mary Hinson, Robert, Benajah, Nathan, Martin, Elizabeth Haggard, Jane Timberlake, and Ann Jenkins.
__ Benajah lived on Biscuit Run, where he commenced to purchase land in 1764. In 1817 he transfered his property to his son Robert, although his death did not occur till 1830. Martha, the wife of Elijah Dawson, son of Rev. Martin, who removed to Callaway County, Missouri, and Elizabeth, the wife of William Goodman, were daughters of Benajah. __

Gibbs, Elizabeth A - Trimble, George W - Dec 14 1859
She was divorced between 1876 and 1880.
According to the Gibbs Family book:
George Trammell was born in Virginia. When they were first married, they went to Virginia to live. He was an alcoholic and didn't support her and the children. After a few years, she moved back to Missouri. Her brother, William Henry Gibbs and some of her half-brothers helped her establish a home. She never divorced George.
I have found no record that any of the children were actually born in Virginia. Various census and death certificate records all give Missouri. On the 1880 census, it specifically said that Elizabeth was divorced.

1726-Middlesex Co VA:"Luck smiled on John Gibbs as well-at least for a while. We cannot trace the growth of his holdings from one purchase but by the time of his death in 1726 he had six blacks: an adult male, two adult females, and three children under ten years of age. Four years later, following the death of Gibbs' widow Mary, the estate was once again inventoried. The intervening years had seen the county struck by epidemic. One black had been born but two (the adult male and one adult female) had died. The loss was not simply a matter of slave capital but of income as well. Before there had been three laboring adults and three children. Now there were four children and only one laborer. Gibbs' blacks had produced roughly ten pounds profit in 1726; Gibbs' widow's blacks produced less than a ten-shilling profit in 1730. In this particular case, the disaster was followed by departure from the county, Gibbs sole surviving son, Zacharias and his wife and child and Zacharias' two married sisters and their husbands and children all leaving to settle in the far western reaches of Spotsylvania Co. p 186 9 2/23
