Betty Douglas Russell, 78, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008. She was born September 15, 1930, in Fulton, Missouri, a daughter of the late Dennis Given Douglas and Bertha (Backer) Douglas. On June 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marvin Russell who preceded her in death.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, John Russell, one daughter, Cynthia Hutsell, five grandchildren; Derek Kinney, Dara Shirley and her husband, James, Devin Russell, Jared Hutsell, Hollie Hutsell, five great-grandchildren; Adrian Sumler, Brenton Shirley, Isiah Shirley, Noah Kinney, and Mariah Shirley, one brother, John E. Douglas of Fulton, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Dennis, Robert, and Lewis, and two sisters; Emily Forsee and Genevieve Sheppeck.
Betty worked at the International Shoe Factory and retired from the Missouri School for the Deaf as Assistant Dorm Director. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and an active member of the Fulton Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards. She attended the Mexico Church of Christ in Mexico, Missouri. She enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at the Fulton Senior Center with Brother Dave Coleman officiating. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton.
