He died in the U.S. Hospital for Defective Delenquents, Springfield, Missouri. From what I have learned, this hospital was a prison hospital for the criminally insane. It states on his death certificate that he died from cirrhosis of the liver and was an alcoholic since 1926, hemorrhage, spontaneous from oesophageal varices. I have not yet found why he was in prison. He was a patient in this hosptial for 7 months and 19 days.
His occupation before his death was a cook in a restaurant. The last date he actually worked was unknown. He might have been a cook in the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in 1920. I am not positive about that census find.
Death certificate says his body was taken back to St. Louis for burial, but does not give a location. I am guessing that since he was not buried on hospital or prison grounds, but was taken back to St.Louis, he is probably buried in the Oak Grove cemetery in St. Louis.
The information about his parents on his death certificate was correct, it appears to have been taken from information he gave himself, as informant was listed as deceased. | Charles Davenport

Elias T. Davis, a prominent farmer of North Callaway, died at his home near Hereford Monday morning at 5 o'clock of complicated diseases, aged 70 years.
Mr. Davis was born in Callaway county on the Turner farm near Carrington in 1832 and was a member of a large family of relatives who are residents of all parts of the county. He leaves a wife and family of eight children, four daughters and four sons as follows: Mrs. Geo. King of Letta, Iowa, Mrs. At Lafon, of Mexico; Mrs. Wm. Moore, Benton City, and Miss Dollie. The sons are Dr. E.N. Davis of Stugart, Arkansas; E.G. and F.G. Davis, of Columbia and Claude.
He was a brother of W.H. Davis, this city and also, of Dick Davis of Pilot Point, and J.P. Davis, of Denton, Texas.
Mr. Davis was in every way a most worthy citizen and the community in which he lived looses a good man by his death and all extend their sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family for their great loss. Father is speculation at this point, however, on 1830 census, there is a male listed living with Gerard Davis that is too old to be one of his children, but fits with Elisha's age at that time. In 1870, his widow and children are living next door to Charles A. Davis family (son of Gerard Davis) and next to them is Amelia Day Davis, widow of Gerard Davis.
The Bureau of Land Management files reflect that "Elisha K Davis of Buchanan County, Missouri" was issued a Land Patent (Certificate 4119) for land in Buchanan County, MO, on 1 May 1846. He was later issued another Land Patent (Certificate 11503) for land in Atchison County, MO, on 2 Nov 1854.

Silas H. Carrington Miss Stella Davis 22 Oct 1896 xx (this is a Callaway Co., Missouri marriage record, which is odd because they lived in Texas, the year is right for their marriage. The nane Silas is wrong, but the marriage records are quite often transcribed wrong, he is on later census records as Samuel H. Carrington)
Stella is not on the 1910 census, the children are living with her parents. Her husband is re-married and has been married for 2 years.
