E.H. Crowson Died Suddenly.
Edward H. Crowson, senior member of the firm of Crowson & Son, liverymen of this city, died suddenly in a buggy in front of his livery barn of East Fifth street Saturday afternoon. He was taking a patron's horse and buggy to the barn and, arriving at the door of the stable, was in the act of getting out of the vehicle when he fell. Death was almost instantaneous. Mr. Crowson had been a sufferer from stomach trouble, but on the day of his death, as well as for some time previous, he had appeared to be in better physical condition and spirits.
He was born in this county, northwest of Fulton, October 8, 1850, the son of William Crowson, a Callaway pioneer. He was married in 1875 to Miss Bettie Dawson, of this county, who, with seven children survives him. The children are Dennis, Martin, Clarence, Edward and Miss Aurie, of this city; Mrs. John Burhop, of Mexico, and Willard, of St. Louis. Two sisters, Mrs. William Patton, of this city, and Mrs. Mary Dysart, of Andrew county are living also. Mr. Crowson lived on a farm until nine years ago, when he moved to Fulton and engaged in the livery business.
Mr. Crowson was a gentleman whose quiet ways and strict attention to his own business gained for him the enviable reputation of being without an enemy, and his loyalty to his friends and tenderness to his family were traits of character that caused all who knew him to esteem him.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the Fulton Methodist church by Rev. T.W. Alton and Dr. John F. Cowan. Bural was with Macoabee honors in the new cemetery. | Edward Herndon Crowson

Obituary.
Dunlap
At her home near Fulton, Callaway county Missouri, December 15th, 1877, Mrs. Sarah S. Dunlap, aged 68 years and 19 days.
The deceased was born in Greenup county, Ky., November 26th, 1809, emigrated to the eastern part of Callaway county, Mo., in 1818, and was married to Mr. James M. Dunlap, one of the highly esteemed pioneers of Callaway county on December 7, 1826. He died December 28, 1838, leaving eight dependent children (the eldest being only eleven years of age) and nothing but the farm as a support for his family. There the mother, just gone to her reward, reared the family by patient toll; and the mother's self-sacrifice, and devotion to her children through the weary years of struggle for them, were rewarded at length, when she saw her children occupying their places among the most respected of our citizens before she died.
She was a devoted member of the Christian church, having been baptized about 36 years ago by Elder Jacob Coons, and was faithful in attendance at public worship until ill health prevented. The bright example of her Christian life shone in her home and in her community upon the aged and young. She loved little children and many of them have grown up to call her blessed. Robert E. Bailey says he remembers "Aunt Sallie" from his earliest childhood as one of the kindest women he ever knew, beloved and respected by all. He and his companions who grew up under her influence know how to sympathize with her children in their loss of so good a mother. The writer was away from home and deeply regrets that he was not at the funeral. Bro. W.B. Whalthall conducted the burial serivces and the mortal remains were laid to rest beside her kindred in the Dunlap family graveyard.

They were married January 1, 1829, and in 1832 removed to Callaway county where the father died March 22, 1870. He was a blacksmith by occupation, and also following farming. At the time of his death he owned an excellent farm, his tract of land numbering 420 acres, all made by his own honest industry. He was a highly respected citizen of the township and served as justice of the peace for a number of years. His loss was greatly regretted, for he was a valuable citizen and a kind, good neighbor.
His wife still survives him, and now makes her home at her son-in-law's, the residence of Dr. N. F. Baker, of Fulton. She has long been a member of the Presbyterian church, as her husband was for many years before his death. He was a leading elder in the church. They had eight children, five of whom are living: Joseph M., of Vandalia, Missouri; James A. G., of this county; Samuel A., also of this county; Mary A., wife of Dr. N. F. Baker, of Fulton; and Sarah A., wife of John G. Provines, the editor of the Moberly (Missouri) Monitor.
