Whereas, it has pleased our Heavenly Father to enter our camp for the second time and remove from our midst our esteemed neighbor, Patrick N. Craghead, on December 28, 1910 to join the great circle beyond, we bow in humble submission to His will, and shall ever carry in the minds the remembrance of our neighbor's largeness of heart and his many acts of charity, together with the thought of his cheery greetings to all as he met them in the circle of meetings. Therefore be it

Occupation on death certificate was retired plummer.

His headstone gives date of birth as Sep. 11, 1857 and date of death as Nov. 30, 1926. Death certificate gives date of birth as Sep. 7, 1854 and death as Dec. 1, 1926. On 1900 and 1910 census, his birth year is more consistant with 1854. In 1860, his parents listed him as 5 years old. I think there is an error on the headstone.

2637 Death of R.P. Craghead
R.P. Craghead, aged 83 years, died at his home, two miles north of Ham's Prairie, Saturday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock. Mr. Craghead had been ailing for sometime and his death was attributed to general debility.

He was one of the oldest native residents of the Kingdom. He was an active man in his earlier days and even in later years showed a vitality that was surprising.

Mr. Craghead was born February 7, 1828, and was married to Nancy C. Hall in 1861. Eight children were born of this union, two preceeding the father in death. Mrs. Craghead died several years ago. Surviving the father are one daughter and five sons, Mrs. Medora Stambaugh, Lee, Edward, Gus, Morton and James L. Craghead. He united with the Methodist church about 22 years ago under the ministry of Sam Jones and remained a member until his death.

Funeral services were conducted at the Ham's Prairie Methodist church Sunday afternoon by Rev. R.F. Davis, of Fulton and interment occurred in the Ham's Prairie cemetery.

Cra(i)ghead book has him married to Lydia Carrington for his first wife. This is not correct, they were never married. My information comes from time and dates, and memories of some Carrington relatives.

Roy Craghead never took care of his son John Russel Carrington. Craghead book even mentions that the family does not really know his son, who was raised by his grandmother Carrington. He lived in Kansas when his son was a small child, and married in Kansas. He returned to Fulton for a about 10 years then moved on to Pa. with his family. John Russel Craighead was raised by his grandmother (my great grandmother), Eliza Herring Carrington.

per the Cra(i)ghead book:
While living in Kansas, Roy worked for the Missouri-Pacific railroad. On Dec. 22, 1913, he returned to Fulton, Mo., and in Mar. 1922 the family moved to Quakertown, Pa., where he worked for a crushed rock company. His death was due to cancer. His widow moved to Wilmington, Delaware to live with her daughter.

2644 Her headstone gives her last name as Greenwell, I have not found a marriage record.

Her mother's obituary in 1970 says that she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ruby Greenwell, 803 Court St. Fulton, since her husband died in 1946.
