Kemp
On February 27th, 1874, of Pnumonia, Mrs. Mattie S. Kemp, aged 30 years, wife of John D. Kemp, and daughter of John Craghead.
She leaves four small children and many relatives and friends to mourn her early death. She believed in Christ, and "Whosoever believeth in Him, though he were dead, yet he shall live."
O, do not mourn the sainted dead, the Savior takes away,
But let us live to work for Christ, while yet 'tis called to-day,
For this our lives are lengthened out, for this our time is given,
That broken ties and friendships here, may be rewarded in heaven. | Martha S. "Mattie" Craghead Or Craighead

"Farewell, dear Ollie, thou has left us,
Here thy loss we deeply feel,
But 'tis God that has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
'Oh yes, dear Ollie, thy death has left
'An aching void in every heart,'
And as we cglance at thy vacant seat,
From every eye a tear will start.
"None, none knew thee, Ollie, but to love,
And none spake thy name but to commend,
While every one who knew thee once,
Now mourns thy loss as an earnest friend.
"And now beside thy cold and silent tomb,
While our hearts with grief and anguish swell,
We consign thy spirit to God above
And bid thee, dear Ollie, a sad farewell." | Mary Ollie Craghead Or Craighead

In 1850 this family was living next door to her parents.
Two children, James and Richard, were in the Cra(i)ghead book with no dates or information. Since this family had 12 children and I have only found info for 10, they must have died young without ever being listed on a census. The book also had Fannie and Catherine F. as two different daughters, with no info about Catherine. They were the same person.

Mrs. Mildred A. Halley, 82 years old, widow of Thomas H. Halley who was a surveyor of Callaway county many years and afterward served one term as collector, died of kidney and bladder trouble at the home of her son, H.C.D. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Unity Baptist church, east of Fulton, by the Rev. Dr. W.H. Burnham of this city, her pastor for many years and almost a life-time friend of the family. Aged Callaway Woman Dead.
Mrs. Nancy P. Thomas Passed Away at Home of Son, Southwest of Fulton, Monday Evening.
Mrs. Nancy P. Thomas, about 88 years old, widow of Felix Thomas, died at 6:40 o'clock Monday evening at the home of her son, George W. Thomas, southwest of Fulton, after a short illness with influenza and infirmities of advanced age.
Funeral services were conducted at the Mount Carmel church, southwest of Fulton, at 3:00 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. L.M. Dimmitt, of this city. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas was born on a farm south of fulton, being a daughter of Solomon Craighead, an early day Callaway county farmer. Fifty either years ago she was married to Felix Thomas, and with the exception of a year or two in Audrain county, she spent her entire life in the community in which she died. Her husband died about fourty years ago.
One son, George W. Thomas, at whose home she died, one brother, James Craighead, of California, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Nichols, of this city, survive her. Three children died in their infancy.
Mrs. Thomas was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church, her membership having been with the Ebenezer Presbyterian church for many years. A good, home-loving mother, companion, and neighbor, and strict in her religious teachings, her passing is a source of deep sorrow to the entire community. She will be missed mostly by those who knew her best, and they, with the many other friends of the family, join the Gazette in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones in the time of their grief. | Nancy Powell Craghead Or Craighead

"Uncle Nick" Craghead is critically ill at the home of his son, Michael Craghead, five miles southwest of Fulton, and small hopes are entertained for his recovery. His illness was brought on through age and a general run-down condition of the system. Mr. Craghead is 73 years old.
