1986 Died Only Week Apart
Mrs. Ewing Guthrie, of New Bloomfield Survived Husband Only Few Days.
Only a week intervened between the deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Ewing guthrie, old and highly esteemed citizens of Cedar twonship. Mr. Guthrie, aged 84 years, died at his home just west of New Bloomfield Thursday afternoon of last week, and Mrs. Guthrie, aged 79 years, died at the same place Thrusday morning of this week. Mrs. Guthrie was ill at the time of her husband's death.
Funeral services over the remains of Mr. Guthrie were held at the home last Friday afternoon by Rev. G.A. Shadwick, and burial was in the New Bloomfield cemetery. Mrs. Guthrie's funeral will occur this afternoon and she will be buried beside her husband.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie were born in Callaway county, he on the site of the town of Guthrie, and she on a farm not far distant. He was born in April, 1824, and she in 1830. Her maiden name was Mary Jane Chalfant. They were married in 1848 and celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding last April.
Six children were born to them, five of whom are living. They are James S. Guthrie, of New Bloomfield; Dr. E.C. Guthrie of Aspen, Col.; George R. Guthrie, of Columbia, and Mesdamess G.D Cason and B.F. Renoe, of New Bloomfield.
Mr. Guthrie leaves four brothers, namely; Judge John A. Guthrie, of Mexico; D. Baxter Guthrie, of Hatton; Samuel N. Guthrie, of Kirksville, and T.F Guthrie, who lives on the old homestead at Guthrie. Mrs. Guthrie was the last surviving member of her family.
Both were members of the Presbyterian church. Because of his advanced age, Mr. Guthrie had lived a retired life a number of years, though in the days of his activity, he was an enterprising and progressive citizen. Mrs. Guthrie was a saintly, old-fashioned mother whose life was a benediction to the community. The children who mourn their death have the sympathy of a host of friends.

THE CRAWFORDS OF HANOVER
ROBERT CRAWFORD, of Scotch parentage, born in county Donegal, Ireland, emigrated to America prior to 1728, with several of his sons:
James, who settled in Paxtang township, and had surveyed to him in March, 1738, 258 acres of land on the bank of the Susquehanna river, adjoining Robert and William Renick?s land. This location was subsequently secured by Joseph Chambers, James locating in Hanover township.
Robert, settled in Hanover.
Hugh, settled in Hanover.

1994 In a letter written Jan. 7, 1870, from Henry and Nancy Holeman to Mary R. Caldwell, Nancy wrote, "Your mother told your father that there was a letter received by her Grand Mother Renick that there was a legacy left to her by her Brother or some relation her Brother was a Sea Captain, Chambers was his Name but don't know his giving name your aunt America had ?win to write a list of Names which we will send in this letter".
Written on back of last page of the above letter, in a different hand, I presume by aunt America, was this: "Polly Chambers, before she married Married James . Rennick. Lived in Woodford County Kentucky. Polly Chambers Sister lived in Boston about the year 1790. Her name was Sprauge".

Mary R. Caldwell's maiden name was Mary Rennick Holman. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Jones and Henry Holeman. Nancy Holeman was Henry's second wife, Nancy Nash. Aunt America was Elizabeth Jone's sister. Elizabeth and America's parents were Uriah Jones and Mary Rennick. Mary Rennick was the daughter of James Rennick and Polly Chambers...TMShort II

On Nov. 11, 1870, Mary Rennick (Holman) Caldwell, wrote that Polly (Chambers) Rennick died in Woodford Co., Kentucky. Mary signed her writing "Mary Rennick Caldwell".

1996 Sarah Chambers was born abt. 1758. She married unknown Turner before 15 October 1782; when her father wrote his will. Sarah Chambers

1997 Thomas Chambers was born abt. 1768; he was underage at the time of his father's will, 15 October 1782.

A bond for the marriage of he and Mary Poynor, daughter of John Poynor and Eleanor unknown,
was signed on 25 December 1796 in Halifax County, Virginia; bondsman was William Murray. Polly signed her own consent.

The Chambers daughter was listed along with her siblings in a court record regarding the estate of John Poynor. The mother Elinor was sometimes refered to as Elinda or Nelly.
