He signed his mother's death certificate in 1932

His wife, Elsie May Todd Calvert, gave the information for his death certificate. She had his mother correct, but gave his father's name as George Marshall Calvert. I've never seen Marshall as his middle name, only Washington.

He was a retired farmer at the time of his death. He was never in the military.

1697 Emily Carrington was born about 1813 in Montgomery Co. Kentucky and came to Callaway Co., Missouri with her family at the age of thirteen. She was my 2nd great grandaunt, daughter of Randolph Carrington and Katharine McGary.

Some Carrington researchers have the year 1840 as her marriage year, I have not found a record supporting this year. She married John Martin, b: abt. 1809 in Kentucky. They are listed on the 1850 Callaway Co., Missouri census.

Jno T Martin, 41, M, KY (John)

Emily Martin, 37, F, KY

Saml T Martin, 27, M, KY (Samuel, appears to be a brother)

James Martin, 19, M, MO

Lucy Martin, 15, F, MO

Catherine Martin, 13, F, MO

Permila Martin, 11, F, MO

William Martin, 7, M, MO

Sarah Martin, 5, F, MO

Charles Martin, 4, M, MO

Susan E Martin, 2, F, MO

If they were married in 1840, the first 4 children would be his by a 1st wife. It is possible they were married in 1830 and all children were hers. I just don't know for sure since I have not found any marriage records for a first marriage for him, or a marriage any time from 1830 on, for Emily and John Martin. A case can be made that the children were all Emily's, the gap in ages of 4 years explained by the death of a child. The name Catherine was Emily's mother's name, the name Permilia was a common Carrington name and Emily had a sister with that name. The younger 4 children in 1850 were Emily's children. I have found very few records of this family. The Carrington document has been proved wrong before and may be wrong about this family. It also stated that they moved to Iowa after 1850. They did not, they are found in Missouri on various census after 1850, and not found anywhere in Iowa.

This is the correct family, I found a death certificate for son Hiram, giving his father as John and his mother's maiden name as Carrington.
