James David Boldwin, 73, Holts Summit, died Oct. 11, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born April 7, 1928, in Jefferson City, a son of Walter L. and Mildred Edna Evans Boldwin. He was married Aug. 30, 1950, in Fulton, to Lela Lucille Branch, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Fulton. He worked for the city of Fulton for 38 years.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Frances Vaughn, Millersburg, and Brenda Blakey, Fulton; one son, Gary Boldwin, Rich Fountain; one brother, Cecil Boldwin, Bourbonnais, Ill.; one sister, Mary Branch, Rocky Mount; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Bull Cemetery, Holts Summit.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to Holts Summit Civic Center.

1159 John William Boles, 78, a life long resident of Callaway Co. , widely known farmer and former school teacher, died at the Callaway Hospital in Fulton Tuesday morning at 6:45. Mr Boles had not been well for several days, suffering from Pleurisy and heart trouble and was brought from his home in Auxvasse to the hospital Monday. After he arrived here pnuemonia developed, the complication causing his death. Funeral services are to be held at the Christian Church in Auxvasse Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by the Reverand A.F. Larson, pastor of the church. and burial will be in the Auxvasse Cemetery, south of that town.
Mr Boles was born near Hams Prairie Feb 24 1851 and would have been 79 years old next month. He was the son of the late Samuel and Susan Muir Boles. He had lived in Callaway Co. all his life, residing on a farm east of Auxvasse for many years after his marriage , and for a number of years lived in Auxvasse. He was married August 18, 1881, to Nellie Boulware who survives and who is now seriously ill at her home in Auxvasse: a daughter, Mrs. R.A. Brown , who lives with her parents and a son, S.B. Boles, of Maud, Oklahoma, also survives., as do a half sister and brother, Mrs. Eva Wise of Hams Prairie and William Nichols of Fulton. Mr. Boles taught in the schools in Callaway Co. for many years.

Both received their elementary education at Hardin rural school and were graduated from Fulton High School. Hubert is a graduate of Westminister College. Gladys is a graduate of William Woods College and the University of Missouri. She taught Latin and English at Fulton High School until retirement.

Since their marriage, Hubert and Gladys have lived on their farm northeast of Fulton, located where McKinney Creek and Richland Creek meet to form Crows Fork. They engaged in livestock and grain farming. Hubert had a lifelong interest in collecting Indian artifacts. Both have been members of Ebenezer Church since their early years.

1179 Jean Books, age 69, of Maryland Heights, Mo., passed away at her home on September 10, 2011. Formerly of the Williamsburg area, she was born in Fulton to Marvin and Clara (Craighead) Books on September 16, 1941. Jean was a graduate of Fulton High School in 1959. She graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College, now Truman State University, in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Jean then graduated in 1967 from the University of Missouri with a Masters degree in Education.
Jean's teaching career included several years in Arizona on an Indian Reservation and a short period of time in California. The remainder of her career was spent teaching third grade in the Pattonville School District in St. Louis County. After Retirement, Jean spent 14 years as a transportation volunteer with St. Louis County's Older Resident Program. This volunteer work gave her a great sense of satisfaction by helping those in need.
Her parents and a niece, Ashley E. Brooks, preceded her in death. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Beth Books, Williamsburg: sister and brother-in-law, Willene and Robert Overfelt, Auxvasse, one niece, Sandra Dempsey, Rolla; three nephews, Andrew Landfather and wife, Jing, of Denver, Co.: Jason Books and wife, Jennifer, Williamsburg, and Jonathan Books, Williamsburg; one aunt, Margaret Craighead, Fulton: as well as cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Auxvasse Cemetery Fund. A private family memorial services will be held at a later date.

Ray Moore Maddox and Myra Books were married August 18, 1950, at the home of the bride in Callaway County near Fulton, Missouri. They made their home on a farm four miles northeast of Fulton. Myra was born on July 29, 1912, in Callaway near Fulton, the third child of Herman Edward Books and Frances Pugh. Myra's father was born near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1872. Myra's mother was born in 1874 and spent her entire life in the same house where Myra lived her entire life.

Ray and Myra had three children: Hubert Ray; Sara; and Nancy.

Myra received an Associate in Arts degree from William Woods College in 1931 and a B.S. from the University of Missouri in education in 1936. She taught at Hardin, Fulton High School, and Hickman High School.

Both attended Ebenezer Church. Myra taught Sunday School classes, and Ray served as treasurer for 20 years. Ray and Myra engaged in livestock and grain farming after their marriage. Myra died in 1971. Ray continues to live on the home farm where he enjoys his hobbies of woodworking and playing the fiddle.

Native of Callaway County Had Lived In Warsaw 20 Years
Mrs. Monroe Davis of Warsaw, a native of Callaway county, died Wednesday morning at the Callaway Hospital where she had been a patient since November 12.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Richland Baptist Church with bural in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Davis was Miss Lucy Booth, a daughter of Steve Wright and Mary Smth Booth, and was born October 5, 1876. On January 7, 1902 she and Mr. Davis were married. They lived in the Earl neighborhood, then moved to St. Louis, and twenty years ago went to Warsaw where they had since made their home.
Surviving are Mr. Davis, one daughter, Mrs. T.A. Williams of Fulton, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Muir of Auxvasse and Mrs. Will Sebastian of Stephens, a brother, Henry Booth of Auxvasse, a half brother, Jack Booth of Fulton, a half sister, Mrs. Rose Mae Langtry, Riverside, Calif., and one granddaughter, Mrs. J.C. Mosley, Jr., of Fulton, and a step-mother, Mrs. Maggie Booth of Fulton.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
