He lived at 5235 Oak Street, Kansas City, Missouri, at the time of his death. He was an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist doctor.

From Centennial History of Missouri:
Dr. Tureman was married to Miss Marie Powers of Decatur, Illinois, and they have become parents of two daughters: Jeanette and Joan. Dr. Tureman is a Mason who has taken the degrees of the York rite and is also a member of the Mystic Shrine.
Dr. Herbert G. Tureman one of the most prominent physicians of Kansas City, enjoying a large practice, specializes on the treatment of diseases of the ear, nose, throat and chest. He has made steady progress in his profession and holds to the highest standards in his practice at all times. Missouri numbers him among her native sons for his birth occurred in Callaway county, January 17, 1875, his parents being Robert W. and Sally (Flood) Tureman, who were also natives of Callaway county. The father has devoted his life to financial interests and was an officer of the First National Bank of Mexico, Missouri, whence he removed to Kansas City where he has successfully engaged in banking and real estate business since 1885.
Dr. Herbert Gregory Tureman

10118 From the History of Callaway County Missouri book, 1884; which is not always accurate:
J. H. TUREMAN, of the firm of Watson & Co., grocer merchants, and one of the leading business men of Fulton, who has risen to his present enviable position by his own exertions and personal worth, and without any means of other advantages in early life, is a native of Old Callaway, having been born on the 16th of February, 1831. His parents were William H. Tureman and Mary Overton, from Kentucky, who were married in that State and afterwards came to Callaway county in about 1827. They had a family of six sons, in which J. H. was the third. The father was a farmer by occupation, and followed that successfully in this county. He subsequently died, however, and his widow married John Clatterbuck, of this county, but formerly of Kentucky. One child, a daughter, followed that union.

J. H. Tureman's early youth was spent on the farm, with one or two terms at the neighborhood schools during the winter months. But at the age of fourteen he became apprenticed to the saddler's trade, which he followed for sixteen years. His long service at this trade shows what his industry and perseverance were. In 1865, however, he was able to engage in the dry-goods business, for in the meantime he had not only educated himself and learned the practical details of business affairs, but by economy had saved up his income so that he now has a neat little start in life. And his subsequent career has fully justified the promise his early industry and success gave. Engaging in the dry-goods business, he followed it with steadily increasing success until 1872, when he became interested tin the manufacture of tobacco. Four years afterwards, however, he became a member of the present firm, since which he has given his whole attention to his merchandising business. This is one of the leading business firms of the county, and carries an exceptionally fine stock of goods. They have a large trade and do a first-class business in every respect. Mr. Tureman is conceded to be one of the best business men in the county. No man could have risen to the position he now occupies from early circumstances like his, unless he had something more than the ordinary measure of ability and energy. His success is another illustration of the great truth expressed in Pope's Essay on Man:--
Honor and shame from no condition rise;
Act well your part, there all the honor lies.

Mr. Tureman has at different times been connected with other important business interests of Fulton, and it should also have been stated that in 1850 he went to California, where he was engaged principally in mining for a time. He has also been prominently identified with the benevolent and other public institutions of this city. On the 23d of June, 1853, he was married to Miss Margaret Everhart, daughter of Joseph H. Everhart, one of the pioneer settlers of Callaway county. They have three children: William T., Joseph H. and Mary A. Both parents are members of the Presbyterian church, and Mr. Tureman is a member of the Masonic lodge.

10148 Her death certificate gives her age as 86 in 1910. This is a bit off from the census age. The death certificate lists her father as Cary Turner. Her first name is very hard to read, on the census it always looked like Medline, on the marriage record it was Medline, but on her headstone it is definately Madaline. The headstone also gives birth year as 1828, which is closer to the death certificate age than any census form was. Madaline M. Turner
