George W. Herring & Josima M. Allen Headstone Photo, Hillcrest Cemetery

George W. Herring, PVT. Co. E, 9 Mo INF, CSA, Feb. 14, 1846 - June 15, 1929. This memorial headstone was erected Oct. 9, 2007 by the Missouri Sons of the Confederacy. George Washington Herring Jr. was a son of George Washington Herring Sr. and Lucy Simco. On Feb. 19, 1871 in Callaway Co., Missouri, he married Josima McNerva Allen, Apr. 16, 1854 - Dec. 6, 1922. She was a daughter of John Karah Allen and Mary L. Walker. She is buried by her husband's side, their original headstone is missing. They were my great grandparents.
