Iris Nadine Carrington, born February 14, 1923, Auxvasse, Callaway Co., Missouri, died September 4, 1995, Robinson, Crawford Co., Illinois. This was my mother. She was a daughter of Carson Dillard Carrington and Mary Leona Wilks. Through her father's line, she was a grandaughter of Nathaniel Dillard Carrington and Eliza S. Herring. A great grandaughter of Samuel Carrington and Lydia A. Bowen, and, George W. Herring and Hester Ann Kemp. She was a great great grandaughter of Randolph Carrington and Katharine McGary, and, Andrew H. Bowen and Anne Summers. Also a great great grandaughter of John Herring and Lucy Carver, and, Walter Kemp and Jerusha Key. She was a great great great granddaughter of Thomas Cauper Kemp and Esther Maxey, and, George Key and Susannah Craghead. Through her mother's line, she was a grandaughter of James Rufus Wilks and Oddie Elizabeth Day. She was a great grandaughter of William Henry Wilks and Rebecca Anne Wilks, and, Sanders Perfect Day and Permelia Frances Overton. She was a great great grandaughter of Blade or Blue Wilkes and Anne Wilkes, and, Benjamin Francis Overton and Ann S. Holt, and, Truman Day and Eliza Clendennen. She was a great great great granddaughter of Ackley Day and Sarah Oxley, and, Lewis Overton and Sarah Gibbs, and, Hiram Holt and Jane Stanfield. She had several direct line ancestors in the Revolutionary War.
She graduated in the Class of 1941 of Fulton High School, and graduated from William Woods College in Fulton Missouri, in 1943. On December 23, 1946 she married David Wilson Herring.
