    • James H. Kemp, who was born in Callaway County June 14, 1849, but has resided in this city for the past sixty-five years, died at the Annex Hotel, Tuesday night, after a two years' illness.
      Mr. Kemp, who was a police officer here for years, is survived by a son, Willard Kemp, an attorney of St. Louis and his wife, of Spokane Wash., a sister, Mrs. Nancy Saunders of Chicago, and two nephews, of this city, John Hook and Joe Canterbury.
      The funeral will be Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at Precht's funeral parlor with burial in Elmwood cemetery. The Rev. J.D. Greer will conduct the services.
      The pallbearers will be Byron Collins, Ernest Barnett, Churchill Kennan, Clyde Johnson, Fred Garner and Dave Kidd.
      Mr. Kemp had many old friends here who will be sorry to learn of his passing. The Ledger joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
