Ray Moore Maddox and Myra Books were married August 18, 1950, at the home of the bride in Callaway County near Fulton, Missouri. They made their home on a farm four miles northeast of Fulton. Myra was born on July 29, 1912, in Callaway near Fulton, the third child of Herman Edward Books and Frances Pugh. Myra's father was born near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1872. Myra's mother was born in 1874 and spent her entire life in the same house where Myra lived her entire life.
Ray and Myra had three children: Hubert Ray; Sara; and Nancy.
Myra received an Associate in Arts degree from William Woods College in 1931 and a B.S. from the University of Missouri in education in 1936. She taught at Hardin, Fulton High School, and Hickman High School.
Both attended Ebenezer Church. Myra taught Sunday School classes, and Ray served as treasurer for 20 years. Ray and Myra engaged in livestock and grain farming after their marriage. Myra died in 1971. Ray continues to live on the home farm where he enjoys his hobbies of woodworking and playing the fiddle.
