Samuel Moore Bartley was a son of George Bartley and Margaret Jane Moore. He married Virginia Berry. She was a daughter of Gibbs Head Berry and Harriett Jane Harrison, a granddaughter of Michael Berry and Lucy Gibbs. She was my 2nd cousin 4 times removed.…

Notes	Samuel W. Bartley Miss Virginia E. Berry 1 Sept 1877 D12 2nd wife, 1st wife was also named Virginia, born about the same time. There is something not quite right about these records... the only death certificate I can find for a Virginia Bartley, has her born in 1850 and died in 1929, maiden name of Smart. The Virginia Bartley buried with Samuel Bartley was born in 1843 and died in 1926, which works with the 1870 and 1880 census. I don't find any other records for Virginia Bartley. The marriage date may have been transcribed wrong. The children were all born before 1877. Note: from a relative of Virginia Berry Bartley: Virginia's marrage date is Sept 1, 1867. According to the 1910 census, they both had only been married once. They lived in Arkansas according to the 1900 and 1910 census. In 1920 Virginia was a widow living with her son-in-law. I am wondering if Virginia died in Arkansas too, as did Samuel. According to her sister Permelia's obit her sister Mrs Samuel M Bartley lived in Bebe, Arkansas.
