- William served in the Revolution in the VA continental Line. He was a Corporal, 1st Continental Artillery, Col Charles Harrison's Regt, Captain John Champe Carters Co #7. Appointed Bombadier 20 Dec 1776. Was with Washington's Army at Valley Forge from Dec 1777 to June 1778. Corporal at camp near Chester, 9 July 1779. William received 200 acres of land in Nelson Co KY for services, and also inherited 300 acres of land from his father in Mason Co, KY (on the Ohio River & Millcreek), and moved his family there in May 1788. Frances died soon after reaching the fort.
