    In Memory of Pvt. John G. Conger, CSA CO 1 2nd Mo. Inf., Died Battle of Kennesaw Mt., Ga., June 19, 1864. This memorial headstone was dedicated in 2006. John G. Conger was born abt. 1838 in Callaway Co., Missouri. He was a son of Stephen D. Conger and Lucy Jane Gordon. On Oct. 22, 1857 in Callaway Co., Missouri, he married Jane Francis Herring.…

      Died in battle at Kennesaw Mountain, Ga, on the side of the Confederacy. 4,000 soldiers were lost in this battle.

      There is a memorial headstone for him in Ebenezer cemetery, Callaway Co., Missouri.
