George Powell Herring
George Powell Herring, 81, of Fulton, died Jan. 9, 1993, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born Aug. 10, 1911, in Fulton, the son of the late Seth "Jack" and Myrtle Qualls Herring. He married LaVerne Zimmerman in Jefferson City in 1937, and she survives. He was employed by the International Shoe Company for more than 30 years, and was working for the Clothing Room at Fulton State Hospital when he retired in 1975.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jan P. Herring, of Hartford, Conn., and Ralph E. Herring, of Fairfax, Calif.; two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Maupin Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton, the Rev. Chuck Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dr. Paul Weber of the Baptist Church last week-end. They were accompanied to Jefferson City by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph James of Fulton who witnessed the ceremony. Mr. Herring is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Herring of Fulton, and his bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zimmerman of Holt Summit. She is a graduate of the Jefferson City high school. Mr. Herring is employed in Fulton, and they will live in that city.
