  • Notes
    • In 1860, age 2, he was not living with his parents, but with a Jacob Crowson family. This doesn't make sense as his parents were both alive and living together with their other children at that time. They also had children after Charles was born. On his death certificate, father is listed as John M. Simco, mother listed as unknown.

I cannot find him anywhere in 1870, he would have been 12 years old. He was not living with his father.

In 1880, he his working on Willard F. Harris farm as a laborer.

      Dr. Simcoe Gets Job
Dr. Charles B. Simcoe, formerly of Fulton, has been elected superintendent of the Marshall colony for feeble-minded. The position pays $2,000 a year and maintenance for himself and family. He was elected for a term of two years.
Dr. Simcoe succeeds Dr. W.L. Whittington, of St. Joseph, whose relations with employees of the institution were such that the board thought it advisable to dismiss him.
Dr. Simcoe was the first superintendant of the colony. He has held a number of state positions during the last twenty years, among them physician at the state penitentary and assistant physician in the St. Joseph and Nevada hospitals for insane. He was born and reared in this county and has many relatives here. His friends in the county are glad to learn of his election to the position.
