    Penelope Dawson, 1819 - 1897. Penelope Hackley married Martin L. Dawson in Callaway Co., Missouri, on March 10, 1852.
     
  • Notes 
    • In 1850, she was living in the house of Noah Flood and family, Callaway Co., Missouri. I have not found the connection between these families, or who her parents were. I'm wondering if she was related to the Flood or Maxey families, and if she had been previously married in Kentucky, and her maiden name might not be Hackley. Pure speculation. She might have been a teacher boarding with the Flood family and no relation. There are no other Hackley's in Callaway County in 1850 or 1840. I am wondering about a young single woman in 1850 with no obvious family connections being alone in Callaway, Missouri. Seems like the logical explaination is that she is a young widow living with relatives. Don't know. She was 33 years old when she married Martin Dawson.
