Notes	Father is speculation at this point, however, on 1830 census, there is a male listed living with Gerard Davis that is too old to be one of his children, but fits with Elisha's age at that time. In 1870, his widow and children are living next door to Charles A. Davis family (son of Gerard Davis) and next to them is Amelia Day Davis, widow of Gerard Davis. The Bureau of Land Management files reflect that "Elisha K Davis of Buchanan County, Missouri" was issued a Land Patent (Certificate 4119) for land in Buchanan County, MO, on 1 May 1846. He was later issued another Land Patent (Certificate 11503) for land in Atchison County, MO, on 2 Nov 1854. In the 1870 Census, this family was back in Callaway Co., Mo., DAVIS NANCY 49 FWKYMO CALLAWAY ROUND PRAIRIE TWP1870 Elisha Davis was dead by 1870, his last child born in 1865. In the 1880 Census, this family, Nancy is widowed, is in Round Prairie Twp, Callaway County, MO. Nathanial Carrington was living with this family in 1880 and working on the farm, age 18. Different census give Mo. for all children's births, 1860 shows which ones were born in Iowa. On the marriage record of Clara Viola Davis, it does show she was born in Iowa. It appears when they were back in Missouri, they gave their birth state as Missouri to the census taker.
