Notes	John "Jack" Clatterbuck was born September 16, 1800 in Caroline County, Virginia, the son of Reuben Clatterbuck and Martha "Patsy" Griffin. When he was 10 years old he moved with his family to Shelby County, Kentucky. On July 23, 1827, he received a land grant in Callaway County, Missouri. He settled in Callaway County, and there he married Martha B. Reynolds on April 29, 1830. She was the daughter of William R. Reynolds and Lucy E. Holt. The 1830 assessors book lists John as having purchased: one free Male, one horse $40, one watch, $3.00, tax due: 75cents. In 1831 he owed Abner Holt 82 1/2 cents. John and Martha Reynolds had two chldren, William Payne, and James. Martha died while her boys were young. The date listed in John's will is:Novmeber 21, 1837. but the family Bible has her death date as June 1, 1831. Note: her headstone gives date of death as January 1834, age 28. John married Mary Head Overton on April 15, 1804, she was the daughter of Lewis James Overton and Sarah Gibbs. She was the widow of William H. Tureman, with whom she had 5 sons. John and Mary Clatterbuck had one child together, Sarah Francis Clatterbuck. John was an early member of the Dry Fork Baptist Church. John died on March 2, 1868 and Mary died on August 11, 1876.
