- Sept. 26, 1905 - Aug. 8, 2006
Tina N.TAYLOR of Longmont died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Timberline Lodge Assisted Living, Longmont. She was 100.
Mrs. Taylor was born on Sept. 26, 1905, at New Hampton, Harrison County, Mo., to Ferdnant Dean and Dorcas Nation.
She grew up in Harrison County where she met her first husband. She married Loren L. "Pop" Murray on March 29, 1924, at St. Joseph, Mo. The couple farmed in Harrison County until drought and depression forced them to find other income.
They moved to Fulton, Mo., in 1937, where her husband worked for Central Dairy, and she worked in her brother's cafe, the State Hospital, and the shoe factory. The couple then rented out sleeping rooms and started a taxi business, the Callaway Cab Co.
Mr. Murray died on Feb. 1, 1957. After his death, Mrs. Taylor was married in succession to Carson D. "Jack" Carrington, John "Russell" Jennings, and William "Ernest" Taylor, all of whom preceded her in death.
After Mr. Taylor's death in 1999, she moved to Longmont.
Like her father, she loved poetry and wrote many poems.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Earle Patrick Dean, Ferdnant Dean Jr., George Waller Dean, Leonard Dean, Truman Edward Dean, Paul Homer Dean and Donald Irvin Dean; three sisters, Mollie Mae Ramey, Pearl Ingram and Dorothy Lavonne Gorrell; and on Aug. 14, 1985, a daughter, Mildred Jean Pricer, who was an adopted niece, born to Mrs. Murray's sister, who died in a car accident.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Rinnert and her husband Jerry of Longmont; a brother, Oliver Raymond Dean of Denver; a son-in-law, Harold A. Pricer and his wife Margaret of Fairfield, Calif.; two grandsons, Nathan Dean Rinnert and John Murray Rinnert and his wife, Stacey; and many step-children, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary of Longmont.
Note: Tina was my mother's step-mother and they were very close up until the time my mother died, altho the writer of this obit didn't seem to remember the relationship.

Notes |
- From an article online in World Magazine, Christian Views:
Tina Taylor is always well turned out. She has her short, white hair done every week, wears colorful blouses with neatly pressed slacks, and wouldn't dream of leaving her apartment without a coat of Toasted Almond lipstick, carefully applied.
But these days, Mrs. Taylor's daughter, Mary Ann Rinnert, picks out her clothes for her, laying out the next day's wardrobe the afternoon before.
Mrs. Taylor is, after all, 100 years old. The centenarian lives at the Beatrice Hover Assisted Living Center in Longmont, Colo. Her daughter, Mrs. Rinnert, lives nearby and visits Mrs. Taylor at least twice a day, sometimes more.
"That's because I'm her only child and since she had me at age 35 after 17 years of marriage, I'm still here when she needs me," Mrs. Rinnert said. "She's outlived almost everyone else."
Mrs. Rinnert, a retired elementary-school teacher, visits with her at Beatrice Hover, drives her on errands, and takes her out to eat. "What she needs from me is just to be there," Mrs. Rinnert said. "She just feels like as you get older, you need the people around that you care so much about."
Mrs. Taylor was born in northern Missouri in 1905 to a family of 10 children, and her father was a farmer. "But not a very good farmer," said Mrs. Rinnert, laughing. "He much preferred writing poetry," an avocation he passed on to his daughter, Tina (pronounced "Ty-nah"). Today, she keeps a book of her own poetry? some of it written more than a half-century ago? in her apartment. She shares it only with special, trusted visitors like Herb Herbert.
So Mrs. Taylor worships at Beatrice Hover's chapel and LBCC keeps in touch via weekly communion visits. "I think she really appreciates it because she doesn't have a lot of contact," Mrs. Rinnert said.
