- Mrs. M.G. Franklin Died Thursday
Stroke of Paralysis Two Weeks Ago Proved Fatal to Fulton Resident.
Mrs. Martha G. Franklin, 79 years old, a lifelong resident of Fulton and Callaway county, died at 5:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the effects of a paralytic stroke suffered two weeks ago, at the home of Mrs. Lee Vaughn, of West avenue, where she made her home. Mrs. Franklin had been in excellent health up to the time she was stricken and was able to be downtown the day before.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, byt he pastor, the Rev. Dr. A.W. Tandy, and burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery of Fulton.
The pall bearers will be: E.A. Robnett, E.S. Clatterbuck, L.H. Holt, Dr. W.H. Renoe, George E. Tutt, and J. Russell Rogers.
Mrs. Franklin was a daughter of Robert and Mary Dawson, pioneer residents of Callaway county who came here from Virginia. She was born April 20, 1851, on a farm three miles west of Fulton, and spent practically her entire life within the county, residing for the last forty years in Fulton.
After her marriage to the late James A. Franklin, they resided on a farm west of Fulton, and later came to Fulton where Mr. Franklin was associated with the late Mr. Bragg in the manufacture of the famous Bragg saddle. Mr. Franklin died about 26 years ago.
Of a family of seven children, two survive Mrs. Franklin. They are: Claude D. Franklin, of Kansas City, and B. Ray Franklin, a member of the Capital News Printing Company, of Jefferson City. One brother, Ben Dawson, of Readsville, also survives. The late Judge W.H. Dawson, former well-known Fultonian, was a brother of Mrs. Franklin.
Mrs. Franklin was a faithful and consistent Christian. She united with the Baptist church early in life and for forty years or more had been a member of the Fulton Baptist church, where she attended services regularly until she was stricken. She will be missed in the church and by a large circle of friends in Fulton who join with the family in their bereavement.
