    • Darrell Schreen, 84, of New Bloomfield, was called to our Lord and Savior on March 5, 2011. He was born August 31, 1926, the son of the late Fred and Merle (Evans) Schreen of New Bloomfield.

      He married the late Lois Burre on June 19, 1948. She preceded him in death on September 4, 1973. He married Ann Peters on September 2, 1978. She survives of the home.

      Darrell was the loving dad to one daughter, Cynthia Schreen and husband Mike Beck of Columbia; one step-daughter, Paula Peters of Jefferson City; and two step-sons Clayton Peters and wife Brenda of Brazito and Clifford Peters of Chrystal River, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeremiah Peters, Mandi Peters, Hayley Beth Cleveland, Kirk Thompson, and Dani Hainen; four great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Taylor Martin of Hamilton, Oh.; and one brother, Fred Schreen of New Bloomfield.

      He was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Livingston, Dorothy Campbell and brother, Udell Schreen.

      Darrell graduated from New Bloomfield High School and was an active alumni. He served in the Merchant Marines in WWII and the Army during the Korean War. He was a life-long member and elder of Dixie Christian Church.

      He loved chopping wood, fishing, farming, listening to music, watching the stock market and politics.

      Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, March 9 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Steve Nelson officiating. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm on Tuesday, March 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Dixie Christian Church
