Notes |
- From the book, A History of Callaway County Missouri, 1884; which is not always accurate:
John C. Cave, farmer and stock raiser, and the younger son of his father's second marriage, was born in Callaway county, Missouri, on the 6th of September, 1853, and was reared on his father's farm and educated in the common schools and at Westminster College. He early adopted farming as his permanent occupation and has since followed it with excellent success. On the 13th of February, 1879, Mr. Cave was married to Miss Sallie, a refined and accomplished daughter of Mr. W.W. Suggett and wife, a sketch of whom appears on a subsequent page of this work. Mrs. Cave was born on the 3rd of February, 1858. Mr. and Mrs. C. have two bright and interesting chcildren: Henry Shannon, born December 30, 1879, and William Curtis, born August 9, 1882. Mr. Cave first bought 131 acres of land, a part of his present farm, and subsequently has added to it until he now has over 200 acres, one of the best farms of the township. He raises well on to seventy-five acres of grain annually, and considerable stock, including horses, mules, cattle, sheep, hogs, etc. Mrs. C. is a member of the Baptist church at Providence. Mr. C. is one of a family of two (Henry being the other) of Henry Cave, Sr. and wife, whose maiden name was Sarah R. Allen, of this county. She was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Allen, originally from Kentucky, but for many years worthy residents of this county.
