- Boy Drowned in Well.
Luther Lazenby, the five-year-old son of Alex. Lazenby, the merchant at Earl, was drowned in a well at his father's store about 5:00 o'clock Monday evening.
Carpenters had been at work at the Lazenby store during the day and it is presumed loosened a plank in the platform of the well in passing over it. The boy was at a play around the well and the supposition is that he stepped on the loose plank and fell through.
When missed by his father, the latter started to search for him and found him in the well. He secured help and removed the body, but all efforts to resuscitate the child failed. It is believed the boy was in the water about six minutes.
The funeral services were conducted at Prairie chapel church, at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. C.B. Duncan, pastor of the Fulton Methodist church, officiating.
