- Jean Angle Dudley, 93, died Tuesday, September 24, 2002 after a short illness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Emma Tate Yates Dudley and Charles Watts Dudley of Auxvasse, Missouri.
Jean attended Christian College (now Columbia College) in Columbia, Missouri and Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg, Missouri, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Jean taught elementary school in Arkansas and Missouri before joining Trans World Airlines (TWA) as a radio operator in Amarillo, Texas in 1944. An Albuquerque resident since 1959, Jean joined the TWA Reservations Staff, where she eventually served as Reservations Manager. She retired from TWA after 30 faithful years of service. Until more recent years, Jean was an active member of the Senior TWA Retirees' Association. Jean was proud of her years of service with TWA and for her community involvements.
Jean cherished time with her family, most recently participating in a family reunion in the weeks preceding her death. She was a steadfast, gracious, and loyal friend, of which she had many locally and throughout the United States. She traveled extensively domestically and to far off lands, often times with her friends. During her lifetime, Jean made at least one complete trip around the world.
A devout Christian, Jean and her parents were former members of the Auxvasse United Methodist Church of Auxvasse, Missouri. In Albuquerque, she was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.
Jean is survived locally by Dr. Nick and Virginia Dudley and their children and families and by Jean Dudley Cowan and husband Maynard. Other survivors include Jane and George Munger of Enid, Oklahoma and their family. A final viewing has been scheduled in Albuquerque for this Sunday, September 29, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 1111 University NE. Jean will then make her final journey,"going home" to be buried next to her parents in the family plot.
At Jean's request, her cousin, Lt. Col. Robert Dudley (USAF ret) will sing "Beyond the Sunset" during a graveside service at the Auxvasse Cemetery in Auxvasse, Missouri at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2002. Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements. "... I'm just going home. ... Work all done, care laid by, gone to fear no more. Mother there, expecting me. Father waiting, too. Lots of folk going there, all the friends I knew. Going home, going home, I'm just going home." from a prayer by Rev. Kirby of Auxvasse United Methodist Church. Jean's was a life well lived.
