    • Dorothy Faye Moore Dillard went to be with her Lord on September 27, 2009. She departed from her sister's home on a bright sunny afternoon, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was 81 years old.

Dorothy was born near Williamsburg in Callaway County, Missouri, on January 16, 1928, to Mangus and Minne Price Bell Brown Moore. She was raised in a large loving family of four sisters, Alma Arlene Moore, Ella Mae Moore Beasley, Edna Pauline Moore Beasley, and Beulah Marie Moore Craghead, and six brothers, Manley Leroy Moore, Leslie Levi Moore, James William Moore, Richard Lee Moore, Harold Dean Moore Sr., and Mangus Moore Jr.

As a child, Dorothy attended one-room schools in Eastern Callaway County, through the eighth grade. After her father's death, she moved into Auxvasse to live with and care for her mother, until her passing in 1972. Some time later she met Thomas Summers Dillard. They were married with a bang on July 4, 1976, and continued to make their home in Auxvasse. However, Dorothy has lived with and received loving care from her sisster, Edna, for the past fourteen months. Although Tom and Dorothy never raised any children of their own, they were like loving parents and grandparents to a slew of nieces and nephews.

Dorothy started working at the International Shoe Company in Mexico, Missouri, as a trimmer in the bottoming room in 1952. She continued to work at the plant until it closed, as Florshiem Shoe Company, in 1980. Dorothy then worked as an assembler at the Square D Company plant in Columbia, Missouri, until she retired in 1990.

Dorothy was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning and putting up her produce for use in winter. She was famous for her dinner rolls, which she made for church and family dinners. She was very active at the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse, where she rarely missed a service, until her illness no longer permitted her to attend. Dorothy was a common fixture at bible schools, dinners, and other activities, where she was often found cooking or cleaning up afterwards. She was also a long time member of the Gideon's International Auxillary.

Dorothy is survived by; her sisters, Edna Beasley and Beulah Craghead, both of Auxvasse; brothers, Leslie and Richard Moore bother of Fulton, and Harold and Barb Moore, and Mangus and Margret Moore of Auxvasse, sisters-in-law Patricia Joyce Moore and Dorothy Elaine Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Mangus and Minnie, her husband, Tom, her sisters, Alma and Ella Mae, and brothers, Manley and James.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse. Interment will follow at the Auxvasse Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bro. Floyd Beasley, Bro. Jerry Ostrom, and Bro. Ben Taylor. Pallbearers are KEnt Moore, Johnny Moore, Lucky Moore, Donald Beasley, Mike Moore, and Rick Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Horner, Donal Knipp, Gilbert Love, Harley Garrett, Bill Beasley, and Darrell Moore.

It is suggested that memorial donations be made to Grand Prairie Baptist Church, Gideon's International, or Audrain City-County Home Health and Hospice.
