Services Sunday for Obie Herring
Obie Herring, 724 Bluff St., died at 1:30 a.m. Friday morning at the Callaway Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Herring was born October 20, 1888, in Callaway County, and was the son of Willis D. and Emma Giboney Herring.
He married Miss Eva Pearl Menefee Nov. 30, 1916, and both were members of the Central Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. E.A. Dick and Mrs. James Farmer, Fulton; and Mrs. Edward Detweilder, St. Joseph; two sons, Frank and Charles Herring, Fulton; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Maupin Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Graft will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Raymond McCallister. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

More Than 200 Attend Herring Golden Anniversary Celebration
More than 200 guests attended a golden anniversary reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Obie Herring sunday afternoon at the Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church.
Hosts were the Herring children, Mrs. E.A. Dick, Mrs. James Farmer, and Mrs. Edward Detwieler, St. Joseph; Frank and Charles Herring. Mrs. Dick had charge of arrangements and also baked and decorated a wedding cake for the occasion with the assistance of Mrs. Ruth Morris.
The Herring granddaughter's, Mrs. Loyd Sims and Mrs. Bob Morris served at the refreshment table. The Misses Brenda Herring and Kathy Farmer had charge of the gift table.
Other family members attending were Mr. and Mrs. Evert Menefee, Loyd Sims and children, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Morris, Mr. Detwieler and daughters, Mr. Farmer and children, Mr. Dick and son, Miss Brenda Herring and Mrs. Charles Herring and sons.
Those present who attended the wedding ceremony fifty years ago were Mrs. Alta Craighead Gathright, Guy Craighead, Mrs. Wave Fennel Dunham, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Thomas, Elwyn Fennel and evert Menefee.
