Death of an Old Citizen-It is our painful duty this week to chronicle the sad fact that Mr. Thomas Lewis Burdett is no more. Mr. Burdett was in town Saturday and complained of being a little unwell but thought nothing particular of his illness. He got some medicine and returned home that evening. He felt as well as usual on Sunday. On Monday evening about 4 o'clock he was in the act of taking his medicine, when he went to a bed, laid down and expired without any one noticing that he was suffering the least. Mr. Burdett was born in Franklin county, Va., in 1819 and moved to this State in 1829, and has resided in this county ever since. He was a member of the M.E. Church South, for many years. He leaves a wife and a large family and many good, personal friends to mourn his sudden and unexpected death. Rev. Geo. W. Penn preached his funeral at the grave on Tuesday evening to a large and interested crowd of relatives and friends. After the funeral he was buried with Masonic honors by Fulton Lodge, No 48, A.F. & A.M. of which he was a member. The family have our sympathy in this, their hour of trouble. Peace to his ashes.
