    • Mrs. Nannie Y. Thomas Dead
Death Occurred Following Stroke of Paralysis Last Week - Funeral Services Friday Afternoon
Mrs. Nannie Yates Thomas, 81 years old, died Thursday morning at 4:45 o'clock at the Callaway Hospital where she had been a patient since Monday. Mrs. Thomas had been in failing health for the last four years but had been able to be up and around until last Friday when she suffered a stroke of paralysis.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by the Rev. W. Garnet Alcorn, and burial was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas, whose maiden name was Nichols, was born on a farm six miles west of Fulton, June 2, 1843. She had lived in Callaway all her life with the exception of two years spent in Johnson county. She was married January 29, 1863 to Warren Woodson Thomas, who died a number of years ago. Five children survive: Oscar Thomas, Sedalia, Mo.; Mrs. J.L. Muir, Richmond, Cal.; Mrs. T.E. Turner, Winifred, Mont.; Mrs. Samuel Breid, Centralia, Mo.; Mrs. Minnie Thomas, Fulton. Beside her own children, she reared a grandson, Oscar Riley Thomas, who died July 4, 1923. Twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren also are living.
Mrs. Thomas had been a lifelong member of the Christian church and a member of the Fulton church of that denomination for 40 years. She was faithful and devoted in her religious duties and a kind friend and neighbor. Friends of the family in Fulton and the county extend much sympathy to those who mourn her death.
