    • William R. Carter Dead
      William R. Carter, 55 years old, died at his home in this city, Wednesday night at 10:00 o'clock after a complicated illness lasting about a year. Burial will take place at the Fulton new cemetery, Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock after funer services at the Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Fr. J. Gilifiliam, of Jefferson City.
      He is survived by his wife and one son, W.R. Carter Jr., besides four sisters and one brother; Mrs. Mary Calvert, of Boone county; Mrs. Ellen Grogan, of St. Louis; Mrs. Nannie Powell, of Clipper Mills, Cal.; Miss Bettie Carter and John Carter, of Fulton. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Carter, and was born on a farm a mile northwest of town.
      Congenial of disposition and of kindly nature, he enjoyed friends, loved his family, and found pleasure in life. He was big-hearted and companionable and because of his death many beside those who were near to him will mourn and regret his sad taking away. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of all.

    W.R. Carter, Aug. 3, 1853 - Aug. 26, 1908. William Reily Carter was a son of John G. Carter and Matilda J. Herring. He was my great granduncle. On Apr. 12, 1887 in Callaway Co., Missouri, he married Ella M.A. Fleming.

      Carter Will Probated
      The last will and testament of W.R. Carter, who died at his home, in this city last week, was probated Monday and the widow, Mrs. Ella Flemming Carter acts as executrix without bond. The Carter estate includes in reality property, the home place on West Seventh street, the ten acre Ausphal suburban tract, two business buildings on Fourth street and tenement property in northwest Fulton. Mr. Carter willed all his possessions to Mrs. Carter, to be owned by her as long as she remains a widow, and in case she re-marries the property then goes to his only son, W.R. Carter, Jr., except her right of dower and legal share in the estate.
