    • Lucy May Hinshaw, 99, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Boone Hospital Center.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
      Lucy May was born Sept. 24, 1907, in Callaway County, the daughter of the late James Lorenzo and Carolina Levina Clatterbuck. She was united in marriage to E.R. "Cherry" Hinshaw in 1930; he preceded her in death in 1971.
      Lucy May grew up and resided for many years near Cedar Creek and the community of Englewood. She was instrumental in establishing the Englewood Club and Club House. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a longtime member of New Salem Baptist Church.
      Lucy was "Mama Lu" to all her family, and later in life many of her friends also called her Mama Lu. Lucy said that to live in the hearts of others is not to die and wanted everyone to not think of her as gone, but simply in another room and with us always.
      Survivors include her daughter, Connie F. Waers and husband Joseph Allen Sr. of Osage Beach; son, Fred Hinshaw and wife Janet of Columbia; grandchildren, Lucy Denise Cunningham and husband Scott of Shawnee, Kan., Joseph Allen Waers Jr. and wife Candice of Shawnee, Kan., Todd Hinshaw Waers and wife Lora of Sacramento, Calif., Laura Jean Ingram and husband Grant of Leawood, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Brett and Callie Ingram, Danielle Heinisch, Bennett, Morgan and Joseph Allen III Waers; and great-great grandchildren, Lucy Ann and Austin Michael Heinisch.
      Lucy May came from a family of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death.
      She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Frederick Clayton Hinshaw.
